The Pitch Perfect Playlist

December 18, 2018

Whether it’s a product launch, funding news or a data report, most client announcements follow a similar trajectory: draft pitch, revise pitch, spend countless hours pitching, revise pitch again, pitch some more, receive coverage.

The media landscape may be shrinking, but the number of PR people is only continuing to grow, and reporters get hundreds or thousands of pitches a day – with almost 95 percent going unanswered. When your media list is as long as CVS receipt and you’ve still got a week left under embargo, these ten songs will help take your mood from Presidential-scandal Olivia Pope to “frost yourself” Benjamin Barry.

Editor’s Note: while I may be the number one offender when it comes to putting Taylor Swift on the Barokas SONOS, I need a more diverse set of songs when getting into my Pitch Zone.

  1. High Hopes – Panic at the Disco
  2. Dog Years – Maggie Rogers
  3. Lost in Japan – Shawn Mendes
  4. Thank U, Next – Ariana Grande
  5. Tie Me Down – Gryffin, Elley Duhe
  6. Electricity – Silk City, Dua Lipa
  7. Pineapple Skies – Miguel
  8. Movement – Hozier
  9. Chasing Highs – ALMA
  10. Burn the House Down – AJR

What song gets you into the Pitch Zone? Is there one specific song that throws off all your momentum? Anyone know what people are listening to at TechCrunch so I can mention it in a pitch? Listen to my playlist here and share your favorites below.
