Slidewaters Waterpark in Chelan, Washington
Slidewaters Waterpark is located in the under-the-radar North-Central Washington region known as Washington’s Playground, which is driveable from Seattle. The water park is unusual in that it’s built into the hill rising up from the banks of Lake Chelan. This means a maximum of thrills and natural beauty.
Every member of the family will enjoy floating down the Lazy River, and adrenaline addicts will want to try to catch some air on the triple-laned downhill racer slide or splash through the pitch-black Purple Haze slide. The park has attractions suited to a variety of age levels. A parent and child can ride some rides, such as the Sidewinder, together.
The Lake Chelan area, which is in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, has plenty of attractions in addition to the water park, including golf, geocaching, ziplining and mountain biking; flying activities like hang gliding and parasailing; wineries, and museums and winter sports, such as tubing and skiing. Getting there can be part of the fun – the drive along Highway 2 was voted one of America’s most-scenic drives. It takes less than four hours to drive from Seattle on scenic Highway 2 and only three hours on Interstate 90.
