Forbes for Medify
September 30, 2011
Medify mines Medline, the largest database of medical studies. Founder Derek Streat and his team tabulate a list of criteria they think are important to arrive at a score. Medify’s algorithm assigns what Streat calls “a strength of evidence” or “Hotness” to a group of inputs, which is essentially a weighting system. It takes into account, for example, how often a treatment has been studied, how many patients have been studied, the number of clinical trials, and outcomes. Those inputs are constantly refined.
